So you all do not see a problem with posting all your gun ownership data on your computer. I know your home computer is said to be safe, but I wonder? At least use a computer that is not tied into the internet?

        People worry entirely too much.

Don't browse anything pornographic at work.

Don't download music, movies, or other popular media.

Don't visit websites that you don't normally visit.

That's all... I don't even run anti-virus software when I'm using Windows. I've never had a virus yet. Just use some cheap linksys firewall router (make sure to change the default passwords) and you're pretty much good to go.

Remember, most computer files are stolen only after the computer is physically stolen (and I don't mean laptops).

          just encrypt the file.

ms office and open office has their own encryption built into it, when you save the file.

then to be even double safe, ZIP up the file (using a free open source equivalent called 7-ZIP from www.7zip.org) with it's encryption routine.

so you just did a double lock on a file...

only problem is DONT FORGET THE PASSWORD!!!!!!!!

Why would I be concerned? Because any good hacker or the US government would be able to access your reconds. If you only have 2 guns, and they were both recently DROS'ed then they are allready on a data base and you would not care. If you have a few PPT (private party transfer) guns from 20years ago you might care. Those guns are not on any data base for you anyone else. Unrecorded PPT on older handguns have no paper trail once the left the dealer. That and privacy in general.
