    Question Regarding Hi-caps

    Dear Calgunners,

I apologize if I am asking this in the wrong Forum. I have been a gun collector in CA for a long time. I have several handguns I purchased in CA with hi-cap magazines, before the hi-cap ban. Is it illegal to sell the guns with the hi-cap mags obtained originally and legally here in CA?

You just need to pull the mags apart (spring, follower, baseplate) and you can include them as "rebuild kits" - and you are correct, this is the wrong forum. The handgun forum probably would have been a better place to post this.

      yes it is illegal.

however, you can sell hi-cap magazine rebuild kits (as long as the mags are completely dissassembled) to persons who previously owned the same mag prior to the ban.

Fixed for you to remove the FUD.

Parts are legal, regardless. Many people are buying to permanently restrict to 10 rounds. Others just want parts in case they later move out of state or the law changes.

              as well as for traveling

I go out of state a couple times a year and its nice to assemble them once in the other state and before entering back into California

does this come up every week? dude do a search. Such a newb question that I'm getting irritated by people not searching "High cap, hi cap, magazine, legal high cap, hi-cap etc." that I just want to scream at people. Google some stuff before you post. You'll find 24 calguns links on legal ownership of magazines sold in California before 1/1/00 that you're eyes will be sore.

                    Amen.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
