    First off, the studs will most likely be 3 3/4" + 5/8 on either side. I doubt there will be 2 layers of rock. Get some 1 5/8" unistrut, screw that to the studs with 3" long wood screws(if your framing is wood). Punch a couple of holes through the back of your safe. Fasten to the unistrut with 3/8" min hardware, and make sure to use unistrut nuts. They are designed to lock in to the strut system.

    Now the holes in the back of the safe can be fire caulked and you'll keep the rating.
