Nevada sales to CA Residents?

So, I was in Nevada the other day, walked into a Walmart, some some guns for sale (but no ammo), and then saw the sign that said they don't sell to California residents. Is this just store policy?
I also went into some place called Scheels and they had a alot of ammo (no .22 LR) but it was all way overpriced. They wanted something like 8.99 for 20rounds wolf 7.62x39. Basically everything was overpriced.

I took it to mean that they didn't sell to Ca residents at all.

No ammo, nothing.

Fine, I would not spend any money with them for anything.... in fact I don't!

I won't buy anything from them, including ammo at great prices!

If it was a Walmart near the border they probably just get alot of CA residents that don't know the law and try and buy a gun over there. It's too much hassle for wally world to deal with, so they put a sign up so they don't have to answer questions.

CA DOJ has made it clear to other states that they can not sell you a firearm. Oregon has signs up at every gun shop as well. It's not the shops fault, or even that states fault. It's CA being a DICtator on the subject.

Most retail places dont want to go through the trouble to ship a gun to your dealer in CA...which is the only way you can buy a gun in another state. The Sign was just for guns. Walmart or any other retail store isnt going to NOT sell general stuff to a CA resident...like they would know you were a CA residet in the first place unless you told them!...They just wont deal with the pain in the butt stuff that requires activity that they wouldnt do for Nevada residents either...

Last I looked if you lived in Oregon you could buy a long gun in Nevada. It's only CA that has problems.

I think you misunderstood the sign. They sell ammo to CA residents all the time. In fact, they dont check or ask you when you buy, you just buy it.
They must have meant the guns only.

It is illegal for any (non-FFL) California resident to purchase a firearm without going through a Ca. FFL. I know both Scheel's and Cabela's will gladly ship to your Ca. FFL on your dime. I believe there is an exception for +50 year old long guns since, they can be FTF without a DROS here.

Heres the thing though....
Out of state folk don't normally know about the "list".

Example:

A guy bought a Walther p22 at Cabelas Boomtown and had it shipped to the FFL I was working at....turns out, he didn't get the CA version. Waisted his time and money. The P22 is a AW here.(threaded barrel)

Point:

Know your local laws so you don't make tis mistake. Save some $$$.

Makes sense. Scheels had some really steep prices though.

The wife and I went to the Grand Canyon again recently and god bless my wife she suffered me stopping at practically every gun store we passed. The funniest one was in AZ. I walked in, well dressed, short hair, and the lady behind the counter immediately said "We don't want any of your California money, we already seen your plates......"
