Creating a resume for a shooting range

I went to a new indoor range I haven't been to before today. The place seemed to be ran really well and the employees were really nice.
I've been looking for a job lately and I asked if they were hiring. The guy behind the counter said that they're not specifically hiring but they're always willing to have you fill out an application. He went in the back to get one for me but apparently they were all out. He said I should bring in a resume instead.

I believe I am pretty knowledgeable about firearms, safety, customer service, etc. but I have never actually had a real job. I've always been self employed and it's basically all been in either electronics sales or something involving computers (web design, etc.)

I'm sure that experience is a plus but you've got to start somewhere. Do you guys have any tips on how I should form my resume to highlight traits that a gun store/shooting range is looking for? I'd imagine that web design or electronics sales isn't on the top of their list for people to hire.

the sales experience can still be helpful. even though you are at a range, socal skills like sales can be useful in dealing with customers (new or repeat)

i would say, maybe show that you are responsible, safety minded, can follow instructions but still able to think outside of normal paradigms to solve a problem, or to bring in new customers, etc.

but then again my advice is more of a general blanket for a lot of jobs.... heh

This is true. Unfortunately there is a slight catch 22 there because range time and ammo is expensive and getting a job there would help with the cost

You'll definitely get some perks, when being in the gun industry.

Customer service, taking phone calls, maintenance, cash register experience, field strip and cleaning multiple guns (if they have guns for rent), membership at the range so the Range Master remembers a face and professionalism.

Good luck. If you get hired...it'll be more like a place to express your passion, rather than just a regular job.
