    Super Ammo Brothers Experience

Recently I met with another Calgunner to do a simple PPT at Ammo Brothers in Cerritos. I won't mention his name. If he choose to identify himself in this thread that is his choice.

It was a busy day at Ammo Brothers and lots of folks were there to see the latest shipment of black rifles they had just received. I would guess there was about 7 guys in front of us and not long there were 7 behind us.

For those unfamiliar with AB in Cerritos, they have a "take a number" machine at the front counter. Instead of playing the games some FFL's (Gun World, you should pay attention here) and keep shoving you and your PPT to the end of the line that is continuing to grow as new customers walk in behind you. Ammo Brothers works on a first come first served basis as many other do but with the idea that you can shop while waiting and come to the counter when your number is called. I like this way of doing business.

Anyway, me and my Calgunner friend are about to start the paperwork when he realized that he does not have his drivers licence in his wallet. The day before they had been in Laughlin and due to the heat he gave his wife the DL and CC and dropped her off at the front door to go in and get their hotel room [while he stayed in the a/c car -as my Grandpa always told me "this world was made for a thinkin' man!"]. He had forgotten to get it back from her. We thought all was lost, he had driven a long distance and I had drove up from SD County and both of us were tied up for a week or more in the future. That is when Francisco Ponce stepped up.

He was able to do some downloading and my friend was able to access all his DL info from another site where he has it saved and was allowed to bring the actual DL in when he picks up the gun in 10 days. The service was quick, very friendly and maybe most importantly with a "can-do" attitude.

We both agreed that most places would have kicked us to the curb but Ammo Brothers went that extra mile and guess what? They did it with good customer service, pleasentness and very courtious, all for the same $10 profit that others would make and complain about.

Let's face it, we the public don't like the PPT's, sea of paperwork and the fees any more than the FFL's do. But Ammo Brother's took this one for the team and spent a great deal of time when they could have been on to more profitable customers. Instead they have the attitude that whatever your business is when you come through their doors that you should recieve the same great service as the next customer. When it is your turn, and sometimes you do have to wait, you will be given their full attention. It might make the next guy behind you feel he is getting slow service but he will appreciate it if he is paying attention, that he gets 100% of their full attention when it is his turn too!

I have nothing but great respect for Francisco and the guys at Ammo Brothers Cerritos. I am sure with the focus on customer service with a smile, that their business will continue to grow and prosper. I know I surely will not be impatient as I stand in line for quaility service ever again.

Big thanks to Ammo Brother's Cerritos.

Anyone with any questions please feel free to post or pm me.

*sorry it took me a few extra days to post this, I intended to post right away but never got around to it last week.

Looks like they decided to ship up a bit. I hope the days of 2 hour PPTs and 2 hour pick-ups are over with.

Sadly, sometimes they do still happen. It has gotten better. We arent perfect. But, we are trying. It is nice to hear about a job well done, though. That is for sure.

        Thanks again to the OP.

I meet up with a calgunner there a couple months ago to do a PPT my self.

I spaced out and forgot to bring my handgun cert. I didn't come from as far as you guys did but the seller was leaving the country so it was now or never.

They took all his infomation I was allowed to leave go get another copy of my HGC (because i couldn't find the orginal) and come back the next day and finish my PPT.

On top of that when I went back to finish my PPT during the middle of the day (it was very busy then as a police department was in there buying ammo and turning in brass) i left and forgot my stupid ID.

I believe it was franciso I was dealing with the second time as well. He called me right away and let me know I left it and I returned after work and picked it up.

10 days later I went back and picked up my gun.

I would say it was less painfull then the PPT i did at Turners.

The guys were all nice and friendly!

Thats why i like ammo bros. i went there to get some ammo. Found a box of 30-06 on their clearance shelf. The girl there asked me if it was 50 rounds. i said i guess i didnt count them. So she counted them. it was off by 8 rounds and she asked a guy there ( sorry i dont remember the name) and the guy responded with drop it to 1/2 price. While I dont go into ammo bros a lot if i decide to buy a AK style rifle thats where im gonna go.

Ammo bros didn't have my Rock River Arms lower that I paid for.

But I forgive them because it's RRA's fault.

I've done many PPTs at Ammo Bros. The staff is friendly and professional and don't give you crap for doing PPTs. I've also personally dealt with Francisco when I sold him a rifle. He's a great guy. Ammo Bros is one of the last good gun stores around whether you're just there to browse, buy, or do PPTs.

I've also had Great Experiences with Francisco Ponce. He's a stand up guy that goes by the book. Even when I brought in an AK that was 2" too short with a foldable stock, he politely explained the legalities of having it in their store.

This is one of those points that seperate AB from other Gun Shops. Some FFL's act as though we the gun buyers/sellers are making them do these by bringing them that part of our business.

I was the "other guy" that Deal is referring to. I can also attest to the professional service that we received at Ammo Bros. Francisco went out of his way to accommodate us so we could make the transaction. He very easily could have told us to go pound sand. These simple actions are what make me a repeat customer there.
