    "Sticky" holster makes drawing hard?!

I have this Don Hume holster for my 1911, model H721 (as pictured below (except its for a 1911 and its black).
When I draw my 1911, the holster holds on so tight that the pistols doesnt come out smoothly.
Actually, the holster and pistol both ride up until the pistol finally breaks free.
I have had this problem with my Kimber, my buddy's Ed Brown, and a Colt 1991.
Any way to remedy this sticky problem?

Spray some WD40 into the holster. Repeat as necessary.

I do this with all my rigs.

This...or get an adjustable Kydex holster. BTDT....

What is the holster for - CCW, OC, or occasional competition use? I've found that leather holsters need a fair amount of 'break-in' time before they relax/wear in enough to be easy to draw from.

Cycle the gun through the holster a couple of hundred times to burnish it or you can take a leather treatment (silicone or bee's wax base NOT mink oil) and rub it into the inside.

Milt Sparks recommends blocking. (www.miltsparks.com go to the questions section and look for tight holsters). Put your 1911 into a zip-lock bag and insert it into your holster. Let it sit for a couple of days. Then remove the zip-lock+1911 from the holster. Remove you hg from the bag and insert into the hg into the holster many many times. You should notice a difference in the way it draws. While attached to your belt, practice drawing you weapon. Repeat the block out process as necessary.

I have used this method on multiple custom leather holsters and mag carriers with great success. Just remember you do not your holster to be so loose that it slides out. You want resistance because over time it will naturaly break in.

            Good luck.

Keep your 1911 in your holster and draw 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000+ times.

then repeat process, this normally helps with the drawing process, and helps build muscle memory.

Holster and draw many many times. Also make sure you are wearing a legit gun belt.

+1... a good belt can make all the difference. I actually just wear a wilderness belt which is firm.

                        thanks for the ideas!
I have a great gun belt, but that doesnt really help when the holster IS TOO GRABBY.
I will try the ziploc bag idea, thanks!
