You mean you don't rely on chamber loaded indicators and have to spend alllllllllll that time checking for yourself?

What's the matter? Don't you trust mechanical things that will never fail? You know, like extractors?

Regardless of how "reliable" some machines are they will always fail at one point.

I always double check, triple check and even sometimes quadruple check for these reasons. Is it obssesive? Not when a mistake can cost someones life.

Good story and makes a good point.

Look and feel, THEN it's clear.

You should also do a physical check by sticking your finger into the chamber.

The 10/22 has two seperate extractors, tell your buddy.

That's one of the things that I teach in all of my classes. Check visually and also physically by putting your finger into the chamber to make sure that there are no cartridges left in the firearm. Just takes a second for the check.

Sticking your finger in the chamber? Why? That is excessive, a knee jerk reaction. I have eyes, they work fine. Sticking my fingers in a hot chamber, come on dude, your joking right?
