depending on condition and location, anywhere from $500-$2000.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

ok, if its not clapped out, then I'd guess that it would be worth $1200+ based on recent sales on the forum. IIRC, I have seen blued 4 inchers for around $1400-1500 recently, but it just depends on what someone is willing to spend on it. SS Pythons aren't as common as blued ones, so that may help. Is the Python in CA now? If so, that helps since you will get the CA premium. But if it isn't in CA and couldn't be legally imported into CA, then you'd be better served checking gunbroker to find the 49-state pricing.Jack

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but this is a relevant question to the OP. Does the year of manufacture influence the value of the pistol? I've got a mid-80's production 4" Ultimate SS Python and am just wondering if it would have the same value as one from, say, the late 70's.

Well, that Sig is probably worth no more than $1000 ($750-800 on gun broker), and you can buy another any time you want, since they are on the Roster, I'd say that you'd be way ahead on that trade, if you want a 4"SS Python.
If you have any large-capacity mags for the 229, your friend would not be able to receive them except as a parts kit.Jack

a little. Aparantly there were some changes made over the years, that some people like one way or another. And IIRC, there was a time frame in that the quality of them wasn't the greatest. Now a nice 50's vintage Python would go for a pretty penny here since it would be exempt from the roster, and could be shipped to any FFL in the state to transfer to the buyer. Can't do that with Pythons less than 50 years old.I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but this is a relevant question to the OP. Does the year of manufacture influence the value of the pistol?
