    You are absolutely correct!

He should have a fair trial before we hang him!

Look...this is a forum, not a court room. We are posters, not jurors. Basically, we are speculating about some incident with no real access to only the facts that are admissable in a court of law.

You are right, though. He is innocent until proven guilty.

But as long as we have no judicial duty, and no judicial impact, we can have a bit of fun from it, can't we?

Sure, have your fun. If statements like you made that "he should have a fair trial before we hang him" are what you call fun. I am sorry I objected or even commented. I had forgotten that there are people like you in the world.

You wouldn't think the same If he was not a marine and instead some regular person with a criminal past. We all have our own opinions and I stand by mine. I don't care If he's a marine, he should never have fired at the police.

Nope... He faces State charges. Once the State is done with him, the UCMJ will proceed with additional charges. Or, they will admin sep him and let the State keep him. More often than not, the admin sep occurs fairly quickly.

I would forsee an admin sep as I'm sure he did not make bail for two counts.

            Aw, c'mon!

            I was teasing, that's all!

I believe as you do, and I do not condemn that young man. Nor do I exonerate him. That is the job of a jury, and not mine.

Still, folk speculate, and usually with no facts to back them up at all. It is of no harm unless folk go rabid and refuse to have faith in the judgement of a jury.

Again, you are right that he is innocent until proven guilty.

Forgetting to pick up toilet paper at the store is a "mistake". Pointing a firearm at another and pulling the trigger is not. If the guy is guilty he needs to be in a cage for a long time.

This is the kind of attitude that has gotten us where we are today.

It is a form of humor. Nothing more. You've read into it and obviously disagree with it.

Was bad joke, yet still funny to me.

ALSO, everyone seems focused on the "Marine" part of it. This is his job. Nothing more..

Otherwise taking the job part out, he was in a car and shot at officers when they tried to pull him over. Pursue the case from there.

I agree with all you said especially the bold part. But is he for sure guilty? It is only speculation at this point right? I only know what we read on and in this thread.

Ah, what the OP's snippet of article fails to mention is that the Marine and his buddy are also documented gangbangers. Hang em high from a short rope!

Marine Pleads Not Guilty In CHP Shootout

                        UPDATED: 5:16 pm PDT August 13, 2009

EL CAJON, Calif. -- A 19-year-old Marine and documented street gang member, who's accused of trading shots with two Highway Patrol officers and trying to run one of them down after a pursuit, pleaded not guilty Thursday to attempted murder charges.

Edward Michael Forney, a private assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, also faces allegations that he personally used a firearm against one of the officers and a car as a deadly weapon against the other officer.

                        Neither officer was hurt.

Forney, who was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail, faces life in prison if convicted.

El Cajon Judge Charles Ervin scheduled an Aug. 20 readiness conference, and a preliminary hearing for Aug. 26.

Deputy District Attorney Douglas Rose told the judge that officers tried to pull a car over on Interstate early last Sunday on suspicion of DUI and a high-speed pursuit ensued, ending on East Madison Avenue.

Both the passenger, Forney, and the driver, thought to be 23-year-old Charles Henderson Neal, got out of the car and started running, Rose said.

As the officers chased the driver, they heard 10 gunshots coming from the area of the car, the prosecutor said.

The defendant's Honda was started and Forney allegedly drove at one of the officers, prompting the lawman to fire at the vehicle, Rose said.

The bullet-riddled Honda was later found abandoned on state Route 125 in Spring Valley, according to the prosecutor.

Forney was detained on base Monday by Naval Criminal Investigative Services agents and arrested by El Cajon police the next day, but Neal, also a documented gang member, remained at large, said El Cajon police Lt. Tim Henton.

Arresting officers learned Forney had a minor injury to his left thigh that appeared to be a graze wound, Henton said. The injury was consistent with a bullet hole in the driver's seat of the vehicle that Forney allegedly used to try to run over one of the officers, Henton said.

Neal is wanted on a $500,000 warrant on charges of felony evading and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest.

Neal, who is known to frequent the Skyline area, is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

At the time of the pursuit last weekend, Neal was wanted on a warrant for allegedly evading officers in a car chase in San Diego in June.

Nope, bloods, finding the other guy in this area would be like a messed up treasure hunt with the amount of folks he can have hiding him.
