It looks more like the saucer section of the Enterprise seperating to take on some intergalactic threat. -
Interesting.
Perhaps useful for SDI/'Star Wars' anti-missile defenses?
Mounted on satellites to stop ASW killer satellites?

If you watch their (kinda hokey) video - they specifically mention that.
The idea of a relatively quiet, fleshless, vehicle mounted weapon with only some centrifugal force is pretty cool. It may also not meet the definition of a firearm in California...

That's a statutory, not regulatory, definition so we'd at least have a buying opportunity before the law changesOriginally posted by blkA4albIf it doesn't...

Wrong .308. It basically shoots ball bearings. No primers, no powder, just a centrifuge with a trap door.

Yeah... .308 and .50 ball bearings at 3000 to 4000 fps...
You can saw things apart with that.

Or as ASW satellite weapons themselves. Launch small satellites equipped with DREADs, maneuver a few of them near a Red Team satellite and wait. Whoever says 'surprise!' first gets to see the rest of the battle.Originally posted by bwieseMounted on satellites to stop ASW killer satellites?ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

I do wonder how much centrifugal force the thing creates though. I can see it working on a humvee, but that could be a heck of a force to overcome in orbit. Also - how much power does this thing suck on a satellite? Again - works great when you have a 300-400hp engine in your humvee but...

OK
So how big are the batteries powering this thing?
What are the frictionless surfaces it is rotating on that keep it heat free?
How are they feeding this weapon and where are the tons of projectiles it would need to fire all day going to be stored?
My 30 cal projectiles weigh 147 grains each
120,000 rpm divided by 60 would be 2000 rounds per second
2000 x 147 gr =294,000 grains/second going out convert that to ounces (approximately)
294,000/440 =668 oz convert to pounds 668/16= 41.75 lbs/second
So... how does this toss out Newtons equal and opposite reaction of force?
Oh, I forgot to mention that that 41 lbs is moving at 8000 feet/second which also begs the noiseless statement since all of these projectiles are breaking the sound barrier.
Also what is stabilizing these in flight? I somehow see these balls flying all over the map especially the ones with dimples.
I think this is one for the sci-fi books
OK I saw the video again and I'll cut the weight of the 30 cal projectiles by 2 thirds It doesn't really damage my question about recoilsigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

The version that I saw had no pistol grip, merely a keypad. No flash suppressor (doesn't need one) and no bayonet lug. Could this be considered "off-list"? lolOriginally posted by UBFRAGDWhen I say people though, I am referring to fellow Americans who have jobs and trucks and guns and consider taking a day or two off work to drive to the boonies and let the lead out. The other 6.something billion of humanity is totally suspect, though.Comment
