On killing in self defense: I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I would also rather my friends and family come visit me in prison than come to visit my grave.

Jack-Booted Thug, typically applied to police and.or government agents that massively abuse their authority. JBTs are as prevalent in gunowner fantasy as 'zombies'.

back in the early days of the Clinton Aministration, the NRA sent out a mailer looking for money and warning folks about the dangers of the Clintonistas. The specifically mentioned government Jack Booted Thugs.

There was a big kerfuffle. Some prominent Republicans disavaowed the NRA. The Dems held up the letter as proof that the NRA was a bunch of anti-gov't wackos (and then showcased aspects of the Christian Identity militias as proof).

And then the Admin did its best to prove the mailer correct....

Thing of it is, the term "JBT" was actually used by (Dem). Sen. John Dingell in reference to a collection of BATF bad acts. Only afterward was the term used by NRA/Wayne, etc.

                From Wikipedia

A jackboot is a combat boot rising to at least mid-calf, with no laces, typically a leather sole with hobnails, and heel irons.[1][2] The term probably originates from association with the word jack or jerkin, as a common garment worn by the peasantry...

...In 1995, National Rifle Association (NRA) president Wayne LaPierre sparked controversy when he referred to overzealous federal agents as "jackbooted government thugs"; the comment caused former U.S. President George H.W. Bush to resign his lifetime membership in the organization...

...The boots are connected to fascism, particularly Nazism, as they were issued by the Wehrmacht and SS during early phases of World War II before Germany encountered leather shortages. When goosestepping on pavement, the large columns of German soldiers marching in formation created a distinct rock-crushing sound which came to symbolize German conquest and occupation.[citation needed] The same style of boot had been in use with German armies in World War I and before.
                From the Urban Dictionary

                jack booted thug

Jack booted is a derogatory term used to describe an overly oppressive and authoritarian individual or group, often denotes violent tendencies. Thugs, thus described, are those in the service of an oppressive authoritarian, usually employing violence to achieve his/her/their master's goals.
Jack booted thugs stormed in, broke my furniture, kicked my dog, and took my still.

I remember the incident, and I remember Bush Sr. resigning his NRA membership at the time. It was a big deal.

IIRC, that would be the NRA membership that he had only recently signed up for so it would look good on his "resume".
