The Mozambique Drill also known as the Failure Drill, Failure to Stop drill, or informally as "two to the body, one to the head"

Unless of course you're in Southwest Africa, because then a "Mozambique Drill" is a carved L- shaped tree branch with a tree vine as its fake electrical cord plug.

Of course it doesn't work but it looks similar to an electrical drill motor and they do use it to build their non-working helicopters and planes that they think are going to fly eventually,

if they make them look close enough to the real thing.

That pretty well sums it up. It is still a part of the curriculum at Gunsite for the 250-499 pistol classes, and a few others including some of the rifle classes.

As they say, anyone worth shooting once is worth shooting twice. If that does not work quick enough, shut down the big switch.

Interesting. Though I probably read that years ago (and likely forgot), I always thought it was developed to defeat some kind of makeshift body armor.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the details on this shooting?
Dr. Goldstein showed us the way. We dropped the ball. Pick up the ball.

This link features a discussion with Lt. Col Freddie Blish, a current Gunsite instructor. He explains the two primarily different drills that were developed as a result of the incident over in Africa. It is well worth the time to watch.

                              ...by another name...

On Miami Vice they called it the "Columbian Drill".
