Seems like it's been going on for quite a while.

It is not an app. I personally think it is a database problem. It is being worked on.

Not really; the something being done about it is that traffic and posts are way down - ( unless you count all the non-gun nonsense in the 'Off Topic' forum, but even that's sorely dimnished.)

Which comes at a terrible time with all the important court-cases in motion backed by the CRPA/NRA we should be discussing, all the new and extremist anti-2nd Amendment legislation going into force to promote countering, all as the NRA flails under attack by Soros funded Letitia James - with the apathetic and media-washed gun owners taking a perverse joy in that and promoting an anti-NRA screed online AND here - as well as being at the precipice of the legislative season for 2024.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

So I used to administrate forums around 15 years ago professionally or so. This software would have been long in the tooth back then. But converting to something modern has significant costs. Not dollar costs (although it has those too), but maintaining data is difficult if and when it?s possible. So for example keeping user names associated with logins for example, or posts with the account that posted them, is not trivial. The iTrader functionality is pretty much already off the table.

I had a budget and and 5 guys who worked on various aspects of the backend (as part of their job, they had other responsibilities). No idea how much support the staff has here but I doubt it?s as substantial. And eventually when faced with similar issues I just decided to wipe the deck clean and start from scratch. Twice actually at two different companies. That wouldn't play well here, a big part of the value of CG is the sense of community that all that history brings.

So while I too am frustrated when the site doesn?t load, I understand a bit of what the team is dealing with. I don?t envy them, it?s doable but it?s the kind of job that could easily stretch into six figures if they went with an outsourced solution.

From what Kes said a while back, the current version of mySQL that's on the server does not play well with the version of vBulletin we are still using for CG.

When the upgrade to the newer version of vBulletin is completed, the slowness should be a thing of the past.

Let's hope they fix the search feature. That hasn't worked for me for years.

                            Site operation Continued Joke

Just posted on the Thread of ongoing issues here.

What a joke as apparently CALGUNS and Gavin Gooseum wins and loses gun supporters with the slow speed and aggravation to visit.

It's JAN 2024 not dialup you've got mail days.

Ima taking a vacay from this nonsense.

I'm only here to comment on how people are too ignorant to understand the difference between an app and a website.
