    COE Renewal

My COE is set to expire in a few months so would like to get started renewing it. It appears the CA DoJ website is playing the "Where's the COE electronic application/renewal form" game. Is anyone able to locate it?

Wondering if the link to the electronic COE application form may not available if I'm trying to renew my COE too soon (100 days)

      Log into CFARS.

The option to renew your COE becomes available 60 days before it expires. [11 CCR 4037(a)]

California Code of Regulations Title 11 Division 5 Chapter 3 Article 3 Section 4037
      Renewal of Certificate.
      (a) A COE shall be renewed prior to expiration in order to remain valid. Completed applications for a COE renewal shall be submitted electronically within 60 days prior to the expiration of the certificate.
      (b) Application renewal shall occur through CFARS by clicking the link “Renew COE”. Applicants shall electronically provide the following information to complete the renewal application:
      (1) Applicant's full name; driver license type and identification number; email address; date of birth; residence street address; phone number; gender; United States citizenship; if not a United States citizen, the country of citizenship and the federal Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Number or federal I-94 number; and business type(s).
      (2) Applicant shall agree to the Department's Privacy Notice as specified in subdivision (b)(2) of section 4035 of these regulations.
      (c) Any changes to the required information shall be submitted to the Department via CFARS as specified in section 4036 of these regulations and can be modified at the time of renewal.
      (d) Payment of renewal fees as specified in section 4038 of these regulations shall be submitted electronically via CFARS for the renewal application to be processed. Payment shall be made using a major credit card or debit card with a major credit card logo.
      (e) A renewal occurring 90 days after the expiration of a COE will require the applicant to resubmit fingerprints for a COE to the Department for a firearms eligibility background check and the required fees, as described in section 4032.5 of these regulations, and submit a new COE application, as described in section 4035 of these regulations.

Thanx Quiet. I was trying to get ahead of the game and renew before I have another senior moment and forget like last time. Guess I'll have to wait another 40 days and try again.

I set a calendar alert on my phone exactly 60 days before, and make it an alert that repeats every day. Makes me reapply and then delete the alert.

I forgot COE renewal one year, too. What a pain.

            Set a phone alarm.
My 60 day renewal was the 24th.
Set a reminder on my kindle and phone, had it paid before a monthly shooting match.
Now, I wait for the inevitable delay in processing as they request my FFL 03 number, even though they know it's not a requirement, and there is no statutory reason for their request.

This year the DOJ clowns did not ask for my 03 FFL number and my COE was renewed in approximately 5 days.

Samesies. I want to say that 60 days might even be optimistic- feel like I do mine closer to 30, but like op, tried to be ahead of the game and found it unavailing.

No one is out to get you. As others noted, set an alert on your phone and then log into cfars and follow the instructions to renew. I've done it a few times now and it's about as easy as it can be.

They reset it with the same date but new year. At least they did with mine.
