I have an FI Model D in .380 ACP. I'll post pictures to show you what I'm talking about. I have etchings on the frame and the slide that have a 61 if you notice my serial number starts with CPA and is in the high 30,000. Now I know a hundred of these went to Colt and were rejected and rebranded as fi. Now do you think this etching which has a 61 on the slide and the frame could possibly be one of the 100 that was sent to colt? I actually have this firearm posted on the site for sale but I'm thinking about holding on to it due to the fact of me finding this etching on the slide and frame. The nickel plated model of this firearm is very rare and it usually came in blued. If you notice also the extractor is different than the earlier models of the same fi company. Also the barrel is smooth like a blowback design rather than the double lug Browning design on a 1911.
