soft gun case for shotgun - wool lined

I've looked everywhere, and I think they don't make them anymore.

Just don't ever put a warm gun into a soft case and leave it there while it cools.
The act of cooling will condense moisture from the air and you end up with rust from the moisture being captured on the gun.

Ummm, you kinda have it backwards. Remember removing a cold can of Sapporo draft from the fridge into a warmer air parcel (like in the kitchen) then produces condensation on the can. Not the other way around. This is also why we use coasters on table tops when we set a cold bottle of beer onto the living room table, to prevent condensed moisture from dripping down the bottle and onto that table. So, don?t put a very COLD gun (like one that?s been outside in cold temps ) into a warmer enclosed environment.

On a side note, NEVER store leather (holsters, slings, cases) in an enclosed gun safe either. They retain moisture and facilitate rust.

OP, why wool? Take a look at Boyt brand shotgun cases. Heavy duty canvas on the outside with a semi-synthetic inside. Very nice and durable soft cases. I transport my prized O/U shotguns in them while going from bird field to bird field in the truck.
