Why don't we all just compromise and let them pass it through as long as it only applies to members of congress and their police and security forces?

Much more certain than I was that 17th Obamacare repeal in the House would go nowhere.

This is what, 27th virtue-signaling bill on guns that has infinitely less chance of passing than when it was previously introduced, after *every* mass shooting with little kids involved. And those had zero chance too...

Many of the same voters and politicians who are anti gun have revealed themselves to be pro terrorist Hamas, and anti semite

And building on what you said, the communities that fared the best on that day were the ones that locked the gates to the community, opened the community armory to pass out their rifles and defended their homes and families with said rifles

House gives in to this in exchange for all the border security they want?

Never thought I would say this ... but it's good to be old.

Everyone in the House is up for re-election, and most of them want to be re-elected. If the Senate sends it over, it's DOA.

I thought Schumer was more savvy than this, taking up a radioactive issue on an election year. Maybe Schumer isn't up for re-election, but one third of the Senate is.

It's not "radioactive" to their base, it's placating the far-left and quite a large fraction of the rest of their voting block.

If you think about it, the rabid anti-gunners get the "we tried, we care, the other side is horrible for stopping it." The center (to the extent it still exists) gets the virtue-signaling, and even the center-right doesn't mind it because it doesn't go anywhere and doesn't affect them, so they get to keep their guns AND keep voting "D."

How many times did the "R"-s introduce national reciprocity or any variation of pro-gun bills? Even in CA we have "R"-s introducing bills such as "shall-issue" and alike. And everyone first gets excited about these bills, then disappointed when they go nowhere. But it's very clear which ones will get stuck, the same way it's very clear which rinky-dinky cars won't make it past the end of the pavement when going to the desert.
