Need advice moving a very heavy safe

I friend has a very heavy safe in Orange County that needs to be moved for a reasonable price.

From Costa Mesa to Anaheim hills.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Balladares Piano and safe movers. (323) 392-4174

Call them and tell them about the job. They’ll quote you.

They moved a safe for me. Legit. If high value stuff is involved and your super concerned about security, call Dean Safe

How heavy is "very heavy"? Is it a residential security container (like virtually gun "safes") or is it an actual safe like a commercial safe/vault? If it isn't going down or up stairs, 3-4 guys can move a 1000 lb safe with little difficulty using a sturdy hand truck and/or 1" PVC sections for rolling it anywhere you want.

If it is a commercial vault it can easily weigh a ton or more in which case you'll need a specialized mover.

It is an old commercial safe/vault.
Its about 6 ft. tall. A heavy MF.

ohsmily is correct. Is it a RSC or a real safe? An RSC isn't "heavy" by any means and a real safe is a so heavy you wouldn't even begin to believe it could be that heavy.

So how heavy IS heavy? Are you using a regular pickup? Truck with a liftgate? Steps into the house? Stairs in the house? Type of flooring in house? Width of safe vs width of doors? Safe door removable? etc etc

I've moved a dozen or more big safes (RSC's) with my F250,a couple 4x4's, a prybar, some closet dowels and some hardboard ripped to 24"

          edit:
Just saw your post... call a safe mover

Another option: call Maximum Security (714) 550-4123. I think they are in Santa Ana.

They have the equipment and knowledge.

When moving tall heavy safes such as this always remember:

If the safe starts to tip over make sure to stick you foot underneath to break the fall.

What type of advice are you looking for?

A recommendation for a safe mover or how to do it yourself?

And if it's a true safe and not an RSC, I would hire a professional. YMMV.

                  Hire a professional.

If you sell the house, the safe stays with it.

I did mine old school, safe weighted 2000lbs.

Hammered a bar underneath to lift the edge a bit, and wedged it/pried up a bit till I was able to get a floor jack under it. Got it high enough for blocks, then did the other side. After that lowered it onto some heavy movers dolly. From there I rented a moving truck with a lift gate with a 2,000lb capacity and was good to go. The lift gate struggled a bit, but made sure the safe was close to the truck and good to go.

A few buddies and some ingenuity it wasn't too bad.

I paid 400 bucks to have my most recent 4k lb TL30 delivered and moved into my place. I won't move it again without a pallet jack and a lift gate. I'd rather pay someone or just include it with the house sale.

I'm looking for a pro to move it.

Is it a gun safe ?

Probably not..just hire a pro before someone gets hurt. I think I could do up to 1k# but if you have what I think it is your going to need some help. A lot of times those safes don't have a lot of interior room. Make sure it's worth it.

                          Good luck, sir

That?s money well spent. I was wondering how much it would cost to have a real safe moved.
