    Building a AR shotgun.

Im helping a buddy with building a AR 410 shotgun. I know I need a non collapsible or pinned stock. Would a Magloc device be sufficient to lock the mag or is there a specific magazine lock brand/ make for shotguns in place device needed. Anything missing for legalities l am missing?
    Thank you

I don't think you can do featureless with this proposed build- semiauto shotguns with a detachable mag are a no-go. OP's buddy is gonna have to maglock it. I assume any of the available fixed mag solutions would work provided they physically fit his build.

He’s using a Charles Daly 410 upper. He doesn’t have a lower yet but the instructions state mil-spec lowers only. My VR80 looks like a giant AR but has this locking pin where you have to pull it in order to split the action in order to drop the mag. It has a pistol grip but that doesn’t matter cause it’s a locked mag. I’m just not sure what device I need to get to make his AR legal. I assumed a mag lock device for a AR but I’m not 100% sure soon thought I would ask if there are a few different types of locking devices and which would work best. . I told him to buy a regular AR but he loads 410 so he wants to build one. He’s more of a hunting guy not really into tactical stuff. Thanks guys.

CA assault weapons laws for shotguns are similar but different from those for rifles.

A restricted feature for semi-auto shotguns is not having a fixed magazine. [PC 30515(a)(7)]

Which means a requirement for a "featureless" semi-auto shotgun is it must have a fixed magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or that is permanently attached in the firearm's magazine well.

Or you could just buy a UTAS XTR-12 CA Compliant
