Happy Friday my friends,
It's time to beef up the insurance on my guns. To be honest I'm a little afraid to call my HO insurance (Farmers) and ask them. The way things are here in CA it wouldn't shock me to have them cancel me just after inquiry about it.

Should I just go for separate insurance co(no NRA please) if so what's your gtg company?

Eastern Insurance and Collect Insure always come up as the top two gun insurance companies when this question gets asked...every month. They're way cheaper than the traditional home owner companies...usually.

I've been with Collect Insure for years and they've been great to work with...but I've never had to file a claim (knock on wood).

Once you get a policy, don't forget to update it at least once a year as you acquire more guns.

I have a rider through State Farm. If you have a poc with your HO policy I’d call and ask about a rider. I could be wrong but I’d be willing to bet they’re a sweet deal for the insurance companies the majority of the time and they’d gladly take your money regardless of any political opinion.

I'm using Collectibles. Very easy to deal with and the premium was much less than I expected. And they don't require any serial numbers or anything to be kept on their end. They asked me to keep a list of what I had and/or a video walkthrough or it all/photos, in case there's a claim.

I have firearms and optics all listed as part of a valuable personal property (VPP) add-on to homeowners insurance with USAA. It’s not very expensive and you can do it all on their website. You don’t need any paperwork unless you need to make a claim.

I have thought about that quite a bit. At this point, I?ve just moved everything I have to a place where it?s difficult for me to even access them. I have a couple in the house, and if they were to be stolen, it wouldn?t break my heart. When I moved to another home, I?ll probably get an insane safe.

I have them too. They were a lot cheaper than Lockton (the NRA promoted one). It was really easy to set up and they said they cover accessories like unattached extra uppers, which the other places I emailed said they wouldn?t.

I mean about 5 years ago some druggy broke into my storage closet and took my rifle. State Farm gave me compensation for that without any special rider.

What am I missing? My guns aren't worth a ton. Maybe 3.5 grand for everything.

My homeowners covers up to 2k ....

$166.00 annually for $20k coverage doesn't seem bad at all. I'm going to bump it up to $25k. I'll get the deal done on Friday. Thanks brother.

I feel most people here have more guns than their standard HO insurance will cover. I'm going to feel a lot more comfortable knowing all of my guns, safes and other gear will be insured.
