    out of state ammo question

So I'm going to vegas next week and I was wondering if I can buy ammo over there and bring it back. Anyone also know any spots along the way where I can shoot?

Incendiary and tracer ammo can not be brought back. Nevada is just a big open range.

And if you find any ammo there stock up. It's tougher finding ammo there than in the bay area. Trust me I was there for 5 years. Cabelas, Scheels, Sportsmans are all bare almost every day and Scheels limits you to 2 boxes.

Yep, and if you bring any rifles over there, be sure to bring them back to CA-legal configs before you cross the state lines. And don't bring back any restricted firearms/parts. Other than that, you're good to go.

Got a friend of mine in Vegas, I'm telling him to start expecting me every few months so I can go up there and stock up on ammo.

And when you get to the agriculture inspection station do not advise them of any firearm or firearm related items.

Yeah, if you find any great deals on ammo in Las Vegas, be sure and let me know.

A new dealer who is set to open in North Las Vegas soon is ordering ammo for locals in case lots. His prices are pretty good for now. It'll be interesting to see what happens to his prices once he experiences the realities of retail overhead.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

check bass pro shops. it's hit and miss. in march they were well stocked with .223 and common pistol calibers. a month ago, they were bare.

citadel should have some. pricey though. they were much better stocked last month than i've seen since the beginning of the year.

Bass Pro Outdoor World (next to Silverton casino) had shotgun ammo, some rifle, and no pistol ammo (9, 40 or 45) last weekend. The Walmarts I visited weren't much better. If you can find a case of ammo anywhere in Vegas and the price is right, go for it.

Don't even bring your guns to Nevada. Buy some ammo and be happy shooting your friend's weapons as a visitor. There isn't much that those Gestapo check points can do about ammo, if they can find any guns in your car...
