Axewound, I'm wondering if you know of any BLM ranges in SD/NSD. I've been looking around and as far as I can tell everything's incorporated. Mostly looking for something that can handle 500m+ range shoots, you know of anything?

Pala is the only range in SD County that I know of where you can shoot out to 500 yards, (with the exception of competing in highpower matches at Camp Pendleton). My suggestion it to go out east in the desert, but this time of the year (May through September) it is very hot and it is not too much fun. There is also a range out there just west of El Centro, that you can shoot long range. Either way it is a 100 mile one way drive.

I like Pala and have had a membership for two years, but the days they make available are too limited and I have used it so little I do not intend to renew my membership.

project 2K has a 100 yard indoor rifle range. P2K is in East county though. If i'm not mistaken iron sights is only 25 yards.

500 yards and you are taking a drive, id imagine. Don't actually know for sure.

You're telling me, I'm in Vista and roasting my *** off here.

Is there a specific part of the desert that's demarcated as being open land? I'd hate to set up camp accidentally in someone's backyard.

out to 500m...orosco range if your are motivated enough and dont get shot by other shooters in the surrounding area.

me and a buddy hiked out 800 yards with clays to set up.

it may be closed due to fire season, not sure.

man im in oceanside and am also roasting.

I have a membership to p2k and i rarely go simply because they charge by the hour instead of the visit. I feel like i have to shoot rapid fire just to get my "money's worth". Especially when you have to take two 10 minute breaks every half hour for people to fart around and change targets. so now your down to about 40 mins of shooting time

                      its a good range though.

Since I live in Oceanside, I gotta reccomend Iron Sights. Decent range and you can even shoot your OLL there. Wish it was bigger though.

Not as bad as it is here, I'm on Sycamore near the 78, that part of Vista. Back when I was living with my parents near the SLR near the 76, it was nicer in summer.

Iron Sights will be good for normal shooting, but they only have a 25yd rifle/shotgun range. Otherwise I'll be using them since I'm not aware of any other public ranges except those in San Diego like Discount Gun Mart.
