Taylor's SSA .357 VS Cimarron SSA 9mm

The only Pietta I have is a .22, 10 shot SAA, all steel and 7.5 in. barrel. It uses a transfer bar and is three click. (only two have a "stop", half and full).

The mechanics are spec'd by the importer so I only know of the two above. Sorry. It seems if you get one with a transfer bar it only comes in a two click. Four click seems to be with the firring pin on the hammer, but this is just a guess for me at this point.

With this type of pin on the hammer, mine recommends only 5 in the chambers.

I do like those checkered grips, I just wouldn't pay an extra hundred dollars for them. I would have paid an extra forty dollars though.

I had no idea that an Uberti grip could be $100.00 more. I don't recall seeing them when I purchased mine. It's a good gun and has a little tuning done by their gunsmith (that's what they say) the trigger is really nice.

Yea, they are real proud of those grips. That is, if you can find them. If you buy the model gun that comes with the grips, you'll pay more than $435.00.

It might be heretical but I think Cimmaron catalogs its adjustable sight 'Bad Boy' model with an 8" octagon barrel chambered in 10mm* - uses the 1860 Army sized grip. Saw they also offer "Grizzly Paw" models with the 1860 grip too.

*now it's a dual cylinder with an extra .38-40!

Is Pietta the best bet for a proper 4-click shooter? Can't justify the Colt premium.

Yes.

We have 3 of them, they all shoot well. Pietta makes a plastic checkered grip that looks like hammered dog crap, but is thinner than the normal 1873 grip and really improves the overall feel of the gun. I just wish it wasn't such a cheap looking POS, as it's very comfortable. The guns themselves have great bluing, and while laser engraving isn't my thing, this laser engraving is pretty deep and the scroll work looks nice. Mine are Pietta from Pietta, not Taylors or anything fancy.

As for the 4 click, my triggers feel fine, the hammers feel fine, and I can't imagine transfer bars or anything else would be an improvement. I play cowboy action shooting, so I never need to load 6 anyway; so a firing pin on the hammer and leaving an empty chamber is fine with me.
