The transfer process will involve a filling out an ATF 4473 and undergoing NICS ($25 fee). Should take less than 30 mins.
If he has a valid AZ CCW permit, then it will grant him a NICS exemption (no $25 NICS fee).

Ammo az has good selection too. But I’ve bought from smaller shops retac shooting sports, hits n misses and lone wolf trading. None of these shops charged me extra for nics checks or dros. These are all Peoria area except ammo az they are north Phx off deer valley.
My last purchase couple months ago I did get a delay which was my first but got call hr later saying you can pick up now. I’ve never bought from the big stores so don’t know there process or fees.Last edited by ar15robert; 06-26-2023, 7:53 PM.Comment

I’ve bought from Sportsmen Warehouse here, no fees and fairly quick. If they are busy with several people getting NICS it can take a little longer. I’ve also bought from their web sight having the gun shipped to my closest store, usually less then a week for the shipping.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

It?s a drive for him but The Pistol Parlour in Mesa is quick easy and well stocked. The best part is the sister store, the Vault right next door. It?s a very ?John Wick? vibe with SBRs, Nighthawks, and etc on the walls where they sell all the good stuff.Comment

There's no NICS fee unless they implemented it in the last few years. I never paid a dime in "fees" for the guns I bought before I got my ccw.The transfer process will involve a filling out an ATF 4473 and undergoing NICS ($25 fee). Should take less than 30 mins.

Great recommendations here and in CG fashion I?ll ignore the parameters a bit, there is a pawn shop in Mesa that I like to purchase and do transfers through. Route 66 Pawn &Gun on Main and Gilbert. Nice family runs it and I?ve seen some pretty amazing random guns in nice condition there.
Your son should also consider getting his CWP so he can skip the check wait times in the future."Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Every time I buy anything I go through a local home based FFL business. Get the best price I can online then have it shipped to him. Usually really quick depending on the online vendor or store in Arizona.
He charges 20.00 to transfer and since I have my CCW no background wait just the 4473 and he walks out of his front door and hands me the purchase. Always feel like I'm doing something wrong but that's fading in time.NRA Life Member
