30 day waiting period question

If I recently purchased a handgun, I know that I have to wait 30 days later to purchase another handgun. Does this still apply if I wanted to purchase a shotgun? Will I still have to wait the full 30 days before starting the background check if it's not a handgun?

For a shotgun, no.

For a semiautomatic rifle, yes, you need to wait.

If it’s PPT, it doesn’t matter.

the rule only applies to handguns and centerfire semiautomatic rifles . . . for now. all rimfire rifles, all shotguns and all ppts are exempt. that is supposed to change iirc 1/1/24.

A 03 FFL and a COE exempts one from the 1 in 30 limitation for all firearms. I checked and the exemption remains after the law changes on 1/1/24.

PPT within Los Angeles city is not exempt from the 1-30 law.
