Metal filing in barrel during cleaning

I bought a green mountain bull barrel for my 10/22 a few months ago. When I first got it I cleaned it as usual then went shooting, that was a few months ago. Tonight I cleaned it again and a few metal filings, if that's what there called, came out when I was using a brush. Is this normal?

I haven't had that happen, could be part of the chrome lining.

That's what it looks like but I didn't think it is supposed to be chrome lined.

GM barrels are not chrome lined. Is the metal soft (lead) or hard (steel)?

Likely lead shavings..... maybe a little build up at the front of the chamber.
          all the best,

There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

It is most likely lead fouling. If you shoot a lot between cleanings that can and will happen.

i would get shavings like that when i used the cheap aluminum cleaning rod that came w/ a cleaning kit i had. i changes to a stainless steel rod and never got those shavings again. I'm not sure if yours are the same but just a thought.

My guess is that it's the lead from the bullets.. not steel from the barrel. Take a magnet to it and you'll see.

                Normal.

Yeah its lead, I didn't think that much would build up after about 100 rounds.

                    Thanks
