    30 day wait period

Question to anyone with information and resources.

Back in early April I purchased an Zastava M90 semi auto rifle from Atlantic and had it sent to my local (Temple City) FFL. After my FFL received the rifle they called and I started the DROS on 4/25/23. The DROS read like this when I started the ten day wait.

    Status: pending
    Transaction date: 4/25/23
    Earliest delivery date: 5/5/23
    Latest delivery date: 5/25/23

After the ten day wait I picked up the rifle and my DROS read like this

    Status: approved
    Transaction date: 4/25/23
    Earliest delivery date: 5/5/23
    Latest delivery date: 6/4/23
    Delivery date: 5/5/23

So during my thirty day wait I purchased a 22LR semi auto HK MP5 online from a shop in Huntington Beach and had Atlantic send a M70 semi-auto in order to DROS both firearms on the same form. So today I went the shop on Huntington Beach and was told I need to wait till after 6/4/23 to start the DROS. I brought in a copy of my previous DROS as I wasn't 100% sure when the thirty day wait actually start.

Is it the previous DROS' transaction date or is the latest delivery date. In my case it appears the "latest delivery" date moved from 5/25/23 on my "pending" DROS to 6/4/23 on my "approved" DROS.

I always thought the thirty day wait was based on the "transaction" dates not delivery date.

Its 30 days from the time of the DROS submission. [PC 27535(a)]

Since your first DROS submission was on 04-25-23, the 30 day wait ended on 05-25-23.

    Penal Code 27535
    (a) A person shall not make an application to purchase more than one handgun or semiautomatic centerfire rifle within any 30-day period. This subdivision does not authorize a person to make an application to purchase both a handgun and semiautomatic centerfire rifle within the same 30-day period.

Perfect this is what I was looking for. I tried explaining this to the 3 representatives at the counter since it has been my understand that the 30 day wait starts from your previous transaction date.

You have it right, but it's still easier to just make yourself exempt of the 30 day rule so you don't have to explain yourself in the future.

An 03FFL and a COE makes you 1-in-30 exempt.
Also lets you order ammo shipped to your home.
Also exempts you of a bunch of other stuff too.

I bought 3 revolvers at Turners on one DROS last year.
Salesman initially said I couldn't do it until he checked with his manager who actually knew that I could and instructed the salesman on where the 30 day exemption dropdown was in DES.

Like others have said, get an 03FFL/COE. Simple and not very expensive after the initial application.

And as far as multiple firearms on one DROS - when that change? I did a ppt this month on two revolvers and was informed that they can't put them on a single DROS anymore. Had to do paperwork for both AND pay for both. At least the cut me slack on their "fee" for the second one.

Was the PPT from the same seller? Where did you do the PPT at?

It didn't change as far as I know.
I did a DROS for 10 handguns this month and there was only one $37.19 fee.
Maybe you were just scammed by the FFL.
If they lowered the "fee" on the 2nd one, it's because they ran both guns as a single DROS and just kept the extra "reduced fee" as profit.
If they actually ran them separate, the state would be charging the dealer $37.19 each.

Well I just looked at my receipts and it actually does look like I paid for only one DROS ($47.19 which includes their "fee") but definitely separate application forms and numbers for each firearm.

I don?t know what ?numbers and forms? means but one DROS is one DROS and that?s what we were talking about.

                      I did a 6 piece DROS today.
