    Anyone unregister an AW?

Still thinking of selling my HKSP89 which is not banned by name. If I pin a mag in it and try and unregister it with DOJ how long will it take?

If you pin it for 10 round fixed mag, I don't know why you couldn't unregister it.

If you are trying to "disappear" from THE MANs radar by unregistering your AW, I think it's a lost cause. The black helicopters will still be circling over your house.

other than losing an INVALUABLE asset, I fail to see the value of un-registering a RAW

No. I've got other registered AWs,50s and am completely legal. Not really worried about "the man". If I sell this thing in Ca I can help out a collecter/ keep it in the state. Plus I might get more money for it.

Good luck with this. I've been trying to unregister one of my guns for 4 months without any success. I sent a them a letter explaining my intentions, included a copy of the original A/W registration, and a photo of the firearm. I recently tried to contact them to obtain a status on my request. Here is a summary of what happened:

                  1) Called DOJ on a Tuesday morning. Got transferred to the "Assault Weapon Permit Desk".

                  2) Got a voice message that said "Do to budget/staffing cuts, calls will only be answered/returned on Fridays". So I proceeded to leave a detailed message.

                  3) Received a return call on Friday morning. A nice lady left me a voice mail saying that she was familiar with my case, but that she had already forwarded the information to her supervisor. She apologized that she could not provide me a time frame of when my request would be processed.

So here I am still waiting. Apparently, due to the State of CA's budget cutbacks, and mandatory work furloughs, things are taking longer than usual. I hope I can get this thing resolved by the end of the year.
