Last week I acquired a FN 503 9mm. I already have a 502 and 509. Going to collect the whole series.
Took some MBI and S&B ammo to the range. Had nothing but problems. Failure to feed and extract. Even had 1 expended shell flip itself in the ejection port. Went home and cleaned the gun. Called FN. They suggested cleaning the gun and to use 124 grain ammo. Bought some 124 grain Remington military training ammo. Went to range again. Still had problems. Then noticed the MBI is 124 grain. So much for the FN support idea. Cleaned gun again. Back to range with the MBI and 115 grain S&B. Only had 1 failure to extract. For the last two magazines I alternated rounds. S&B, MBI, S&B, etc. Only failure occurred on an S&B round. I am willing to chalk it up to a limp wrist.
Lessons learned? Clean the gun before first use and some guns do have a break in period.
