    Fully Assembled Upper Receiver

I have a AR lower I bought years ago, finally deciding to build it. I was looking at buying a fully assembled Upper Receiver with everything completed... But the one I'm looking at from Palmetto State Armory has a flash hider. Can I still order it and remove the flash hider to comply with the law? Or is that still not even allowed? Thanks!

Can order, not a problem unless it is assembled in an illegal configuration.

The flash hider is not illegal depending on how the lower is configured. So don't mount the upper with the FH on the lower and your good.

I forgot who I made the request too, but if your concerned about it I've had luck telling the vendor "I want this upper with this compensator. I live in CA." and it was easy peasy.

Oh cool. Okay yeah I was gonna order from PSA directly. Idk if they would switch the flash hider to a compensator.

An upper is not a semi-auto, it's undefined until a lower operating system is attached. It could be a single shot, a manual repeater, a slide action, etc. But I wouldn't put it past any law enforcement agency to confiscate everything and have it show up assembled in court. The lack of knowledge and willingness to call everything an assault weapon scares the hell out of me.

I've ordered many and reconfigured. If you have an AR you should buy an armorer's tool to take that off and either protect it or compensate. It's Legos but with guns.

PSA probably has a bunch of choices but it might cost more for their labor. Also some people might swear by a certain type of comp which they might not have so again, DIY. When you get a chance you might want to buy some extra crush washers.

Someone please make this a sticky.
ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.
