Suppressor Night sight with no red dot?

Can I use a suppressor night sight without having a red dot optic? I know that the suppressor sights are taller than the normal night sight and are usually paired with a red dot for co-witness. I currently have Ameriglo CAP night sight on my Glock 30 but the front sight is too small for my eyes to pick up. I have a very hard time trying to aim with the Ameriglo CAP night sight. I want something a little taller so that my eyes can pick it up better and faster but by adding a taller front sight without a red dot, will this throw off the accuracy of my firearm? I am looking to get the Ameriglo XL Tall night sight, .315" front and .394" Rear.

Sure you can, they make all kinds of different heights for glocks due to this "problem". It might not be Ameriglo though. Google glock tall sights or something.

suppressor sights have tall front and rear sights. You don't want to just put a tall front sight only. That will absolutely mess up your point of aim/impact. Different height front sights are for using on different slide lengths (19 to 17 to 34 for example). Not switching them on the same slide.
If you use a whole set, they'll work fine. Suppressor sights are originally designed to be normal iron sights that are high enough to clear a suppressor. No red dot required. They also work cowitnessed to a red dot, but they'd work the same without the dot there.
I don't know if this will actually help you though. It looks like the night-dot is the same size between the two (if not actually smaller), just higher off the plane of the slide. If you can't see the dot when it's lower, how does it being higher help? The notch in the rear sight is pretty much the same. I don't actually like night sights at all. I like a fiber optic, and have a flashlight for when it's dark. Or it might just be time for you to get straight on the red dot train...

Thank you for this reply. It's very helpful. My problem is that the front sight sits too low so it's hard for my eyes to pick it up even with the color dot. So by having a taller front sight that sits taller, it will be easier for my eyes to see. I was just at the range and I shot my Glock 30 with regular size Ameriglo night sights and it was very hard for my eyes to concentrate on the short front sight even with the color dot (orange). I want to get taller sights but I am worried it will throw off the aim on my Glock because of the taller night sight? I will be getting the complete set with both front/rear. I just want something taller but I am afraid this will mess up the aiming on my Glock 30?

Suppressor Night sight with no red dot?

I agree with the previous poster, raising the sights will probably not help you. It?s most likely not the height of the sights that?s giving you problems, it?s the distance of the front sight from your eye . Sounds like a vision problem to me. Not being able to see the front sight clearly is usually an indication of being nearsighted. I?d look into glasses to correct the problem or a red dot.

But, if you want to try suppressor sights, it?s relatively cheap and easy. Just get Ameriglo suppressor sights and install them or have them installed and see how they work for you. Oh, and install both the front and rear. Replacing only the front will have you shooting in the dirt

Yes, it's a vision issue.. But when I was at the range, I shot another firearm that was not mine, but this firearm has taller night sights and I was able to see it better than the sight on my Glock. That firearm is not a glock though so that's why I am asking if it's ok to put suppressor sights on a glock. It's because I don't see well, and since the stock sight sits lower, it makes it harder for me to see but if the sight is taller, it will help me see it better.

I like the two color option, one red and the other green for better visibility. So like 2 reds in the back and one green in the front. Put the brightest one in the front. The thing about glocks is endless customization. You'll find one that works for you. It's also about how you train, so for self defense and fast, I have a tendency to aim at the crotch/abdomen and as soon as I see a triangle (front sight lines a bit higher, I shoot, which gets the target in the torso. Play your slice as it were.

Just be aware it probably won't fit in your holster after you change them. Since suppressor sights are getting more popular, newer holster designs might be okay.

You might also look at some other designs. XS Sights makes a "Big Dot" with a huge front dot, and there's a "night" version with tritium. I also tried those briefly. They were really great for close, point shooting - easy to see and fast to line up. But the dot was too big for me, for fine aiming shots, such as I needed in IDPA matches. It just visually covered up too much of the target on complicated stages, like partially exposed A zones at 7+ yards with a no-shoot in the way. It might still work for your purposes.

If you wanted to try something that?s standard height but is easier to pick up, look at the Trijicon HD or HD XR sights. They have a bright yellow or orange circle around the front night sight dot. The rear is a u-notch that you try to center the circle in.

The HD XR have a thinner front sight.

I like the HD ones in orange. I put them on both of my HK?s.
