April 19 1775 Redcoat Army was decimated !

This was the day when America as we know it was truly founded. Its the most important day in US history, for W/O those great men and women, we would be under a dumb Monarchy .

This page provides a brief overview of the battles of Lexington and Concord, the first military engagements of the Revolutionary War.

"The Minute Men formed up and marched down the hill. As they did so, the British soldiers, intimidated by the colonial numbers and orderly advance, retreated to the opposite shore and prepared to defend themselves. When Davis’s company came within range, British soldiers opened fire, killing Isaac Davis and also Abner Hosmer, another Acton Minute Man. Major Buttrick of Concord shouted, “For God’s sake, fire!” and the Minute Men replied with their own volley, killing three British soldiers and wounding nine others. This volley is the volley considered “the shot heard round the world.” The rest of the British troops retreated back to town."

Captain John Parker, 46, was crippled by tuberculosis when he led 77 volunteers against 700 British regulars in the Battle of Lexington, igniting the American Revolution.

Captain John Parker and 77 armed Americans stood on Lexington Common on what revolutionary Samuel Adams proclaimed "a glorious morning for America."

      It was April 19, 1775.

The "shot heard ?round the world," as Ralph Waldo Emerson later called it, was about to ignite the American Revolution and change world history forever.

Thank Your posting this on Samuel Whittamore !
This past Friday afternoon at the NRA convention we heard Gov Christy Noem tell the story of him fighting the Red Coat Army, using his pistols and a saber against troops sent to disarm Colonist's.
She said Samuel was shot and stabbed several times ! He recovered and lived another 18 years !

Its a shame I was never taught any history of our glorious war for Independence !
I do recall Charlemagne and other characters not related to our war for Independence. More evidence of an occupation government controlling indoctrination.

what?s not fully appreciated across the usa is that the revolution ignited on 19 apr 1775 when the british attempted to seize the colonists? arms, not a printing press, not a politician, not a pastor. hence the usa?s founding is literally predicated on our inalienable right to keep and bear arms.

Exactly correct and that has to be the major an occupation government avoids April 19 1775 like the plague .

Good job Sir ! That said if we wish to keep the American revolution alive, we must do as you have done and teach it.

Don't know why its a bigger deal this year, but glad that it is; military history always intrigues me and this year more then any before I've enjoyed many links to stories about the events of 4/19. I didn't know the initial engagement was such a small number of American's (I believe 77) and it ended with (according to some links) nearly 20,000 taking to Boston and driving the red coats out!
