    S&W service/warranty or lack of.

I sent my brand new S&W performance center 357 in for some warranty work. It would not fire about every 5rds. It was there for about 5 weeks and sent back to me. When I open the case I find a large scratch on it. So I send it right back. It has know been a of 3 months. Is this normal and if so when the hell am I going to see my gun?

Did you contact customer service? At least to let them know your gun was coming? I mean, that's what they're there for. They'd be able to help you a lot better than anybody on this forum.

S&W is working on Walther PPK recalls at this time. That might explain why it's taking so long but it's just a guess because I don't work for S&W.

I have called and left 5-6 messages. I have sat on hold for 25mins to be told it is still being refinished. Most of the time when I call all I am able to get is a message and even able to leave one.

As much as it pains me to say this, Smith is not the same comapny as they were in the past wrt warranty service and repair.

It used to be (30 years ago) that if you had a problem with your Smith wheelgun and sent it in for repair, it was done right, it was done quick, and more than once (for me) it was done for free, even on wheelguns that noone in their right mind would think would be covered under warranty (pre-war N frame)

20 years ago or so, things began to change, repair times increased, service went down, the folks you'd talk to at CS on the phone retired (guessing) and the replacements weren't exactly good CS material (one woman I spoke with had a southie accent and attitude) and I stopped using them.

If you go to the Smith and Wesson forum, you can read all kinds of horror stories about problems with Smith CS.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I had to wait four months to get my PPK back from the recall.

Well it gets better. Today I go out to get the mail and find a letter from S&W. It says that they have my gun and would like to know what it is there for. That's great I called a month ago and was told the gun was in refinishing. I have many high end S&W guns, but I can say I will not be adding anymore.
