New to CA - selling a gun?

I moved to CA with some handguns last year and submitted the "ab991frm" registration paperwork for them at the beginning of this year (January). Coming from AZ, this registration thing seems like a bit of a minefield and I want to get it right.

The reason for this thread is that I'd like to sell a couple of these handguns. They are off-roster, so I understand I will have to sell them in a private-party transaction processed at a CA FFL (?). Before I do this, I want to make sure I have my ducks in a row. I have two questions:

1) If I didn't hear anything back from the DOJ after I submitted my registration paperwork in January, can I assume it was accepted and processed OK? Is there any way to check? I don't want to try selling a gun that does not yet exist in the registry.

2) I just recently moved apartments so my address in CA has changed. Do I need to notify DOJ of my new address, or will it get updated automatically when I change my address with the DMV?

2. Do the guns have any assault weapon features? Threaded barrels? Magazines outside of the pistol grip? Front grips? Barrel shrouds? Magazines over 10 rounds?

If yes to 1 and no to 2, you can sell them legally. There are PLENTY of guns that aren't in their registry that they have no knowledge about. However, if you still have an Arizona ID and go back and forth to buy guns there and sell them here, expect some nice men to show you a nice set of silver bracelets!

You do not have to prove registration or ownership. No ones business but yours. If ca legal then sell and get more than you paid.

However, one of the buyers is concerned that I already filed the AB991frm form - I think his concern is that the gun might be mid-process of being registered to me and not transferrable to him either. Neither of us wants to drive all the way to the FFL just to find that the gun can't be transferred or somehow has to sit in gun purgatory for months while it gets entered into CFARS.

Is this a legitimate concern? Is there any way for me to check status of the registration process?

Not legal advice however I don?t think this is a legitimate concern based on my similar experience. Your registration will simply get rejected because CFARS will see that it has been sold/transferred to someone else. No harm no foul.

Find a buyer tgt hat is not paranoid. Call an ffl and see what they say.

During the ppt transfer all that is being checked is the buyers background to see if he is allowed to purchase the gun and if the gun is listed as stolen. DOJ is not checking to see if the registration of the gun matches up with the seller. DOJ doesn?t want to go into that area as they have had so many issues themselves things on there end.

Just get with the buyer and go to a FFL and transfer. Don?t over think things or talk about things with the FFL

Thanks everyone. I have a buyer for one of the guns I am seeing today - if all goes well, the other buyer said he will honor his commitment to buy. I will post here if any issues arise.
