Moving out of state with a CA gun?

If I move to say NV and brought my handgun with me since NV doesn't have a requirement for registration, do I have to do anything in terms of paperworks wise for CA?

Debating if I should keep it here in CA with my brother or take it with me.

If you leave with brother more than 30 days it is his gun illegaly. Sell it here fro premium and buy back there.

Can I take it with me out of state and if I move back with it do I need to register it through FFL or what now?

If off roster, I’d sell them via ppt while you are still in ca. they are worth more here.

Anything else, take it with you in a locked container. Remember movers don’t do ammo and guns.

When I leave Ca., I do not intend to let the state know anything I don't have to. Them having my info will add to the clutter and maybe help in the eventual collapse.

Just don’t tell the movers. Once you do you’re screwed

There is no requirement to notify anyone if you remove a non-NFA firearm from the state.

If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.

I was wondering the same thing.

I recently moved out of CA to MO that does not require registering a weapon at purchase. You go into the candy store, select weapon of choice, fill out a form on their laptop (background check), get approved, pay and say thank you and take the weapon home that day.

Question is, since CA registers the gun you purchase there, if I now want to sell it or trade it in, how does it get unregistered to me? Or will it always be registered with the CA powers that be.

Once you DROS a firearm in Ca, your name is entered in AFS. It will remain there forever as an owner.
There is no way to unregister a firearm from AFS.

One can always dream that a very persistent, hardened, and unstoppable computer virus would invade and destroy all the electronic records of every firearm transaction ever made, and that a series of great infernos would clean up all the paper records as well. Might even make a good movie.

Bring your gun, screw CA. There is no requirement to let CA know you moved out of state with a gun. I Brought all of my guns to NV, never looked back.

                            Welcome to freedom.
                            1. Your good to go. No registration exists in Nevada. I sold some prior California guns and no paper work was required. Your in a different world now.
                            2. Recommend you sell your fire arms in California, because resale is much less in Nevada.
                            3. Get your Nevada driver's license ASAP.
                            4. Enroll into a CCW class ASAP. File your CCW application and make appointment. Turn around is 60 days. Once you have CCW, no wait on background check. You can buy, fill out paper work, and walk out with your firearm purchase same day. Same for NV gun shows.
                            5. If you plan on traveling around the state get a GPS, you will need it.
                            6. If you can't find a fire arm at your LGS, Gun Broker is available.

Are you moving to Reno or Las Vegas area?

With an 03 FFL, you will be able to have C&R firearms delivered to your door in Nevada.
