    Price Increases For New Year

Is anybody aware of manufacturers that are going to be increasing their prices as of 1/01/2007? I have already heard that Winchester ammo will be increasing by about 15% despite several increases this year alone. I have noticed that Mossberg shotguns have gone up $20 in the last month at Big 5. Hell, Marlin lever guns went up twice this year.

Shop I go to says they told him ammo prices would double at the start of the new year. He thinks its BS and a ploy to boost sales at the wholesaler. I'm not too sure myself. Maybe the prices won't double, but I think they are going to make a big jump.

It seems that Springfield Armory prices go up every year. I bet this up coming year will be no different.

As long as lead ,copper ,brass etc... are in strong demand, i.e. China, Walmart. Just expect the prices to continue going up, keeping a decent supply of brass and bullets on hand is probably a good idea.

With the price of diesel fuel rising everything else will keep going up. The trucking companies will not eat a big jump in fuel costs. Wait and see what food will cost next year.

True, but it has nothing to do with the first of the year.

The prices of all metals have been rising quite drastically (an engineer buddy of mine just told me the price of copper has DOUBLED in the past several months) and that fact combined with the increase in gas prices (that heavy ammo has to get shipped to you or your dealer on gas-burning trains, boats & trucks) equals a pretty stiff price increase in ammo.

My first shock came a couple months ago when I went to get some .308 Federal Match ammo and the price had increased $10 from $19 or so to almost $30 for a box of 20!!!

I had another rude awakening this past weekend when I discovered that not only is the supply of SA .308 drying up QUICK (local shop had 2 cases left...1 1/2 after I left ) and price has SHOT UP: was $30 a few months ago, I just paid $50 per battle pack on Saturday!!!

Worst is, apparently there's no other surplus .308 in sight!!! Guys at the shop said the same thing happened during the first gulf war & that a new supply eventually gets discovered, but still.....

Why can't some companies form some big, huge *** better conglomerate and manufacture cheap ammo?

                              Grr.
