    Shooting Gloves

I cracked the metacarpal (palm bone) under my shooting hand pinky a couple of months ago and hadn't been to the range since. Took my chances at Bullseye today since the Sig rep was there with an X5 that was available to shoot. I only shot 40 rounds, but my hand has been pretty sore since. I was thinking some padded palm shooting gloves might help with recoil while my hand heals completely. I was only able to find gloves from gripswell.com with a padded palm, any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Gel pad cycling gloves, perhaps?

Or just shoot .22's til you hand gets better. That's what I did.

.22s, don't aggravate the injury. After it's healed use some gel cycling gloves as mentioned, Big 5 has sales on them.

Or just wait till it fully heals.

I like the 22 idea. Also icing after. You could also spend time doing some rifle shooting as your shoulder takes the recoil. Heck why not a 22 lr.

It's a blessing in disguise. If you concentrate on shooting .22lr's for the next month or so, your handgun shooting will improve dramatically. GUARANTEED.

(You could also use the time to brush up on weak-hand shooting. )

That sure sounds like it hurt. Heal well.

Practice shooting with the support hand?

Sounds like you threw a punch...

Be careful, or it will take forever to heal and/or heal improperly. +1 to weak hand practice. Good luck.

+10 Now is a PERFECT opportunity to do so. Most casual shooters never even entertain the thought of shooting strong hand only let alone weak hand.

I agree with Sheepdog1968: shoot a 22LR rifle for awhile and let your hand heal.

& save some $$ on ammo we can't find too shoot...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Thanks for all the input. I had to run out and buy a S&W Model 41 since I didn't have a .22 pistol, this accident is costing me more than I thought!!

Anyone use the pistol gloves from gripswell.com? I ordered a set of those too to see if they help.

REI has a great selection of padded palm cycling gloves.

I use these at work, check it out. Make sure you order the right size gloves, whatever brand you get, it will make a difference in level of protection from shock.
