I bought a pelican 1500 off Craigslist for $30 and a foam kit off Amazon that’s cut for 5 pistols and 18 mags for $35. It’s pretty damn awesome.

I have the larger 4800 case and it stores at least 4 handguns + mags with room to grow. Check out some YT hacks to best modify the pluck foam.

Sometimes you gotta think out of the box... and gun case. I recently bought a Wilson tennis racket bag from Dicks Sporting Goods for a Ruger takedown rifle. The case was perfect for all my needs and discrete to boot. At a short 29 inches, I can even store an AR15, mags, and gear. Check out Bass Pro fishing section for carry bags, and you might find something.

Hard cases are overkill when traveling by car between your house and the range.

I have a couple of cases from Flambeau. They are well-made and tough. Their customer service is excellent.

you say "junky" that thats a bad thing.

I'm a big "security via obscurity" guy, plus if I'm going to be doing anything that can get grubby I like semi-disposable.

My current fave multi-pistol case a garage sale kids "Hello Kitty" backpack filled with combo-lock Snap-Safes.

The pack is top-tier construction musta been over $100 at Nordstrom or something and clearly some officially lic "Hello Kitty" product, and even has some PINK molle straps, external clear panel of actual plex-glass for note reminders, etc but I got it for $5 in nearly mint condition. Of course I have to carry it like a sling not a backpack.

Not sure if you saw this discussion but it's a good deal on a pelican case.
