where is semi-official CAD files for guns?

There are various DIY files in various CAD programs of various parts of popular guns of varying degree of functionality on GrabCAD.

But shouldn't there be a semi-official set of full CAD blueprints for at least the most popular "platforms" at least their basic most standard versions?

Be nice if they came with (in SolidWorks) "mates" and other stuff that would allow simulated operation (at least "manual" cycling of action).

In theory, a top tier CAD should be able to fully simulate a semi-auto cycling at least one round via simulation of increased pressure/temp inside the cartridge's powder chamber against weights and springs, but that would be asking for a lot.

CAD and physics software are not the same thing. Some CAD packages such as Solidworks include stress analysis, but do not differentiate between shock and steady state load application.

Not sure what you want to achieve, but consider that Browning did his designs with PCAD; as in pencil and paper. If you are not lazy you can do the same thing.

There are two main aspects to firearm design analysis. Will the mechanism function as intended? Is it strong and durable?

The info required to do baseline designs is freely available. Parts are loaded by gas pressure and the peak force = the peak gas pressure x effective area. The chamber and barrel wall thickness need to stand the gas pressure (with a factor of safety), and that pressure declines towards the muzzle. The barrel needs to be stiff to reduce whipping and heat related distortion. How heavy a gun can your use case tolerate?

Recoil operated mechanisms are analyzed via momentum studies. Gas operation starts with gas port pressure and flow restrictions, acting on an area to create a force that is applied for a specific period, to create a specific impulse. How much impulse is required? Consider the work that is done by cocking the striker and moving the bolt/carrier full stroke. Then add friction losses and a percentage for reliability. Consider successful designs and understand each aspect before dreaming up your own. If you have potential, get a job with an existing company. Or start your own, after filling the official paperwork.

The real thing is better than an animation. Especially when the animator misses key steps in functioning, such as that the bullet leaving the barrel before case extraction starts with a locked breech action (some of the above videos show that).
