    Calguns on NPR or PBS?

So while doing some research I was sidetracked yet again and went off on a road not much traveled by me. I ended up on the National Public Radio (NPR) site and began to look around, specifically advertising and PSA spots.

Then onto the outfit that makes the Public Service Announcements (PSA's) for NPR and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) called the Ad Council.

About 16% of NPR's funding comes from public money, your taxes, from Federal, state and local revenues. The rest comes from donations from Corporations, Foundations and individual donors. A list of Gov & Foundation donors is here.

    Find an NPR station here
I posted 29 of them and certain there are more, California is well covered.

The NPR site also hosts a Podcast dohickey says 'make your own Podcast'. I'm not clear on Podcasting so someone with the experience needs to look at it to see if its viable. Here is a list of stations working on and producing Podcasts, maybe we can get something in there?

    So the question or comment;
It sure seems like NPR ought to be a place we ought to be addressing as far as sponsorship with the Calguns Foundation as well as advertising with PSA spots..
We ought to have a presence in this arena as they reach a wide area and population with our money.

If we can put together a marketing plan advertising Calguns.net & Calguns Foundation along with mission of both entities we'll be reaching many folks we want to reach.
There are many NPR listeners with guns, my wife is one of their listeners yet she is armed and will not give up her gun easily.

Same with PBS, we need to develop a way to reach that audience also.

Has anyone on Calguns or the Foundation ever approached NPR or PBS to put Calguns.net out there on the airways?

    Now its time for coffee.

It's certainly worth looking into. Realize that most of the "Foundations" that PBS is talking about have net worths in the Billions. As to CGF's net worth, I can only say "we can all wish." Said another way, I expect "advertising" to be expensive but who knows.

      I'd donate for a PBS/NPR radio ad.

I'd love to see the look on the faces of the Prius drivers next to me while I'm stuck in traffic on 80 when those ads come on!

I'm in. Should be "civil rights" oriented. If you spin it right, it won't even come off as "offensive", even on NPR

KSCO 1080 AM has been running a deluge of ads for the San Jose gun show all of the past week. They won't refuse commercials or PSAs from pro-2A groups like KGO/KSFO in the City do...

Actually, many media outlets do PSA's for no charge for non profits. Billboards too. The thing is having the person who select the ads select yours.
Once the 501c3 comes in, it will make things like this easier.
