    Monstrum lights?

Anyone have any experience with the Monstrum Tactical FP45 400 lumen lights?

The Monstrum FP45 250 Lumens Weapon Light is the newest addition to our family of best-selling tactical flashlights. At 250 Lumens, the light is powerful enough for outdoor environments as well as for home defense weapons. Designed specifically for use with rifles or shotguns, with an integrated M-LOK mounting plate, the flashlight mounts securely to standard M-LOK mounting platforms. The Monstrum FMK Weapon Light comes equipped with a powerful long-lasting 250 Lumens LED bulb for indoor or outdoor usage. The FMK features an integrated M-LOK mounting plate for attachment to standard M-LOK mounting platforms. Included are both a traditional push button tail switch and a detachable remote pressure switch that allows for operation without removing your hand from the barrel.

I know, a typical "I am cheap and never learned my "buy once cry once" lesson" post. However, thus far my experience with monstrum has been that they make decent non-critical gun doo-dads, even if made in China.

Would I buy an optic from them? Probably not, but we are just talking about a light that attaches to your gun; I ain't a cop or MARSOC operator operating in a highly operator environment. Just want to light up a room or backyard if I have to.

So, anyone had experiences with these lights?

Yeah, I am prepared for that; but, you never know how many other cheapos like me are lurking here, ready to extoll the virtues (or lack of) for their $40 impulse buy.

You can do this with any given flashlight, but if you need this for a situation where you need to pull out a weapons mounted light on your firearm, then the situation probably dictates that you want something that is reliable and fail safe. I would highly suggest spending $100 on a streamlight protac hlx. Arms unlimited usually sells them right around $100 with free shipping and they can be bought on eBay as well. Be very careful when purchasing it on eBay if the price seems too good to be true. There's a lot of fakes being sold on there. The best way to tell whether you got a fake streamlight is every streamlight with a pressure pad will have its serial number printed on the underside of the pressure pad itself. I completely understand if upgrading to a better light would cost you an extra two or $300, but we're talking $60 and it's just not worth trying to save money for something that is absolutely inferior in quality and reliability, especially in a situation where your life may be on the line. Just my two cents
Fair enough, will look into more recognized options!

Just my opinion...but you do NOT want to just light up a room or the backyard like you're looking for the cat that got out. You're trying to identify what may be an armed threat that may be simultaneously trying to kill you and/or your family.

You'll probably get different opinions on this because weapon lights and output can be subjective...everyone has their preferences. But I want as much light as I can possibly get on the end of my rifle. If I can not only identify the threat but blind them too, I'll take it.

If I'm only needing a light to handle the distance of the house and a smaller backyard, I still want a good 1000 lumens on the end of the rifle, and I'll look for a light that has more spill than throw. But that's me. YMMV.

I do not have any experience with their lights but I can tell you I've had very good experience on their scopes. Even my 338 lapua has a monstrum on it and it has held up very well even with that significant recoil
I think I have 3-4 of their various optics for ffp's to prisms. It's just my opinion but Ive had no issues what so ever

Guys, after some thought, I am gonna give it a go, perhaps torture test it a bit, and report back. I fully respect everyone's opinion on the matter.

As I was digging around my junk drawer last night, looking for a packet of soy sauce that I knew was in there, I came across my cheap POS plastic dollar store flashlight. It's like 5 years old, beat to sh*t, and has spent more than a few days sitting out in the middle of the yard in the rain.

It still works. Perfectly. In fact, all my beater abused cheapo flashlights work, as long as you keep 'em fed with batteries. This one will be babied relative to these; I don't often put my flashlights into a nice foam lined case for storage.

Flashlights are not the pinnacle of western technology. They are flashlights. I think we've got it figured out.

Will give this a try. As long as it throws some light and works after a range trip or 2, I'll call it a win. Will huck it down the driveway a couple times as well.

FWIW I only plan on using the back button, not the remote switch thing, which is probably the weakest link in any light set up.

They might as well call it ASOFT lights, for fun and larping probably. But for guarding your life in any situation like freezing, heat, water, humidity better stick to a name brand. You can probably search out youtube videos of people putting it through its paces.

I have a few lights, one made by olight for sitting on the counter in case I need to use it for something on the spot, digital, multi function quick charging.... I also have Surefire and Streamlight. Those are on my chest rig and guns.
