all I can say - I am disappoint

    NIOA Acquires Barrett Firearms

Australian defense contractor NIOA Group announced today that it had acquired 100 percent of Barrett Firearms, expanding the company's global reach. In the same announcement, NIOA Group CEO Robert Nioa confirmed that Barrett would continue to operate under its own brand. All management and staff at Barrett's Murfreesboro, Tenn., manufacturing facility will be retained, and production will continue as normal. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Hopefully they don't refuse to sell to civilians. They're woke aussies after all.

I'll bet they start selling to California law enforcement again.

If Ronnie Barrett had anything to say during negotiations regarding California, I can bet that it's in the contract that they can't unless they un-ban the .50BMG rifles and get rid of the assault weapons ban.

Wow- I just read a story a month or two back in the NRA magazine about the family history and heritage and the company moving forward .....bla bla bla.....what a bunch of crap. Well- I hope they got a lot for the company from the nanny-state loving Aussies.

I live in Murfreesboro and the Barretts are stand up people...real deal, so don't bash them because they reached a point that selling the company they poured their blood, sweat, and tears into was the right decision. Few of us have spent our life navigating the crazy of being a govt contractor as well as dealing with international arms sales and all the risk and stress that brings. Celebrate what Ronnie did and don't eat one of our own who is a solid 2A supporter.

Bet the Aussies will not have a booth at the NRA convention this year like Ronnie Barrett did. That said this April the NRA convention will be in Indianapolis, Ind and like always, free to NRA members .
It would not surprise me to see RB design other guns under a new name.

FWIW its possible and likely the Aussie group will sell and market to the US civilian market. Why wouldn't they ?

                        AFAIK...

NIOA is a supporter of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA), which is an Australian pro-gun group that is working to repeal Australian gun control laws and to prevent more gun control laws from passing in Australia.

NIOA was also responsible for the importation of Turkish made lever-action shotguns into Australia for civilian sales. Resulting in Australian anti-gun groups crying foul and clamor for stronger gun control laws, because the anti-gun groups believe it (NOIA importing lever-action shotguns) was exploiting a "loophole" in the Australian National Firearms Agreement to allow civilians to legally obtain "assault style rapid fire firearms with a large magazine capacity".
^The Australian National Firearms Agreement restricts the magazine capacity on bolt-action, pump-action, & semi-auto shotguns and prohibits the ownership of pump-action and semi-auto shotguns by non-exempt persons. Because there were no lever-action shotguns being made/imported/owned in Australia at the time the National Firearms Agreement was passed, lever-action shotguns were not included in the National Firearms Agreement.
~NOIA imported Turkish made lever-action shotguns with fixed tubular magazine capacities (5-12 rounds) that were restricted under the National Firearms Agreement for other types of shotguns.
