Question regarding legality of transfer and ownership

A friend of mine purchased a handgun not to long ago and after the ten day waiting period, they said there would be an extended waiting period as there had been a problem with DOJ. So he talked with the DOJ and said that it is due to a problem with an incident that occured during a in-state border patrol check. If for some reason he can not legally obtain the handgun, after already paying for it, can he transfer the firearm to me or another friend or family member?

Strictly speaking, if the sale were to be stopped by DOJ, the current buyer could not sell it to you or anyone else, because the transaction was not completed. The seller would be returning the money paid for the gun (but not the DROS or any fees) and receiving the gun back.

Alright thanks for the insight libarian. Its sad to because he was not ticketed, only detained. Yet supposbly they want to bring federal charges, and if so he will have to relinquish his firearms to the state.

I dont know about all of you, but this does not seem american to me....

You've told us nothing. What was he stopped for and what crime will he be charged with?

/not that it matters, except that you're crying 'it's un-american' without even telling us what IT is. And considering it was a border patrol checkpoint stop, the 'un-american' part might even be accurate. heh.
