The PDP is a lot better anyways. -
I had no idea it was still in production, interesting concept with the striker decocker and all. I’ve never owned one, had a PPQ never really warmed up to it and sold it. The slide seemed overly large and oddly shaped, the trigger was very good but maybe too good. I would often break my shot a split second before I wanted too.
I do have two Canik TP-9s that are a clone of the P99, same striker decocker. They were dirt cheap but run really well, 18+1 capacity and so-so trigger. Don’t shot them much but am holding on to them, good stash/truck gun but not worth much money wise.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

I still have my Walther P99 AS, it is my favorite striker fired pistol.
Trigger runs rings around the Glock. Very good ergos, one of the early pistols to offer replaceable backstraps. Just a well made, German semi-auto that just wasn't marketed well, a highly underrated handgun. The ambi paddle mag release is great.
I got rid of most of my Glocks, but I'm hanging on to the P99._______________

^^ It was my very first Walther, and my third overall pistol. I love this pistol so much that when I left CA I took that thing with me. You're correct in saying it's highly underated. Without it we wouldn't have enjoyed lots of other offerings from Walther without P99 DNA. It was a milestone for Walther when they were bought out by Umarex in the 90s. They hit the ball out of the park with this gun.

Was it worth the $200 CA Roster premium? I don't know but I do know it shoots everything in a small tight group for CCW qualification and is my EDC because it has never jammed, even with my janky reloads. I should probably get some parts....

Walther will be releasing a special final edition for the last run of P99's. Would be cool to own one of the last ones made but I don't think I would pay the MSRP for it.
Walther’s P99 AS Final Edition semi-automatic 9 mm pistol sports an OD Green frame with “Final Edition” engraving on the slide.
Edited to add: Didnt realize OP linked this article in the original post lol

Wait the ppq is discontinued too? What happened to the SF line and q5 match? So now I gotta be super careful with my ppq?Last edited by Scratch705; 01-15-2023, 5:19 PM.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Walther seems to have removed the PPQ from the US website but it's still on the German website. No word on the steel frames however.
The small parts of the P99/PPQ/PDP interchange. I've done some frankenstein work on my P99 in the past using parts from the later models.

That is pretty sweet. The P99 AS is still my favorite handgun. Love the striker-fired DA/SA with decocker and no external safety. Had it listed as a CCW, but rarely carry full-size these days, so I replaced it, but won't ever sell it.Walther seems to have removed the PPQ from the US website but it's still on the German website.
