That sounds like a business. If you plan to buy them and resale them for profit, I would recommend getting an FFL first...or maybe not post about it on the internet...

Just don’t pay any extra beyond MSRP for off-roster guns. The roster will be struck down soon, and all the speculators and price gougers will be left holding the bag. A lot of LEOs and intrafamilial transferors are going to have to find a new side hustle!

The Roster is going nowhere, at least not for another several years at earliest. The most that we can hope to ever see in revision of it is removal of the Microstamping requirement. Maybe Benitez could toss it, but you can expect Bonta to file an immediate emergency injunction ceasing implementation, no different than was establish against 'Freedom Week'. Bonta highly likely already has such proposals drafted and on the ready.

And yet, Benitez has become more cautious about his decisions, and is self-installing delays on the implementation of his decisions until heard and decided by a higher court.

In the face of Heller (11 years ago) and now Bruen, nothing has been overturned or implemented in the advent of these two important cases as would be the expectation. Even now, there are more moves toward ADDING bans and restrictions like what just happened in Oregon, and currently sitting approaching the Governor's desk in Illinois, than any meaningful removal of such infringements.

You're still seeing abuse of implementing carry 'allowances' (rather than rights), still seeing a cultivation of bans and prohibitions by the features of certain guns (both Assault Weapon bans and the Roster fit in this class) as well as bans/prohibition by cartridge (AB50/.50BMG and .50-caliber handgun sales/transfer prohibitions.)

The recent bumpstock reversal wasn't even meaningful in that regard under Heller or Bruen, because it was solely based on asserting that ATF did not have the power to establish underground legislation and determination, whereby Congress must do that.

If congress now creates a law that bans bumpstocks, you can be assured that will stick and be enforced.

So no - the Roster is here to stay for a long while.

All that said, it's time to buy if any certain particular gun merely interests you. With a recession approaching, people will be unloading what is excess or they don't drive or use at fetching reduced prices, whether that be guns, classic-cars, sports-cars, boats, motorcycles, jet-skis, fine-arts, Amazon stock, or other collectibles. And there will be a surplus of availability and multiples, so it will be a 'buyers market'.

Buy it because you want it - you're not going to make big money flipping anything in CA as the Roster is in place and will continue to be in place for a good long time.

Anything on which you would have made money that was off-Roster would have to have been bought in the early 2000s, the first 5 to 8 years of the Roster when it hadn't really dawned on people yet, and anything new production now off-roster since the Roster went into effect is already now priced at "Off-Roster" bilking prices.

You would have had to have bought something either prior to or within the first few years of the Roster and/or having bought something just before or within a short time after it fell off the Roster to make money on flipping it now.

And if you're LEO, they are now watching that like hawks, so it's not something one should jeopardize their career or pension in doing.

Buy because you want it, and leave the flipping to auto mechanics and real-estate agents, because it's too late to make money of flipping off-Roster guns even if the Roster remains in place for the next millennia.

NO!

Only buy a gun you already have lots of ammo for.

Times have changed, forget about the days of excess ammo on the shelves, and as ffl's disappear you have to travel farther to sell.

The next potential good time to buy for investing imo is in Aug 2023 but only if they if the market has softened to point where they give huge rebates.

By then we'll also have better idea if the roster goes away, and if that happens all your off roster guns become normal guns which means game over and its a buyers market.

Yes! Buy cheap stack deep! Prices peaked and are now decreasing.

The last few months I've taken advantage of good deals on ammo using my 03FFL and COE. Getting .22lr for 6cpr, brass cased .223 for 37cpr and 9mm for 25cpr, shipped.

I think ammo will get even cheaper as interest rates rise and the economy slows down. I can find .40 for 40cpr and 45 for 44cpr shipped.

Large rifle rounds are still pretty outrageous though.

There were a lot of good deals on parts and optics during holiday sales.

Off roster guns came down a little, but that was normal end of year sell off pricing.

On roster guns are still high, but as with ammo, theres plenty of stock now so prices will come down as economy slows.

Even primers are coming back in stock. The shortage is ending. Theres plenty of inventory on everything except some primers. So prices have to decrease as demand falls.

Now is not a good time to sell anything IMO that ship sailed about a year ago. Youre gonna get raped if you sell a gun right now. Prices are only downhill for next few years.

I have serious doubts the roster will be gone this year but just in case Im not buying any guns unless they are really cheap. Im saving in case the roster falls and buying ammo right now.

Prices have dropped, but as others have noted it still has potential to drop more.

Probably get what you need/want, and stock up some on items you see deals. I did similarly with Black Friday, etc specials last year, but personally still holding out on the stack deep. I did get some ammo and other items to have sufficient for quite a bit. Waiting longer before looking to stack deep on “consumables”.

The price on some guns are decent and BCGs are at good prices too. I don't think it's time to buy for stocking deep, not yet.

I also believe the roster will go away this year.
