I've chosen to sell four firearms to pay for two firearns purchased from fellow Calgunners this month. Twice now I've had a buyer who told me that he would 'take it' back out on the purchase, the most recent without even seeing the gun. the first told me that he would take it sight unseen based on the photos, without reservation. Then he changed his mind. Fortunately on the first instance a second buyer was lined up. This most recent time I passed on another buyer because he got in line after the first purchaser emailed me to say he'd take it and then backed out. Come on guys, think this through before saying you'll take it!

See this is why I pm and go for a meet without an "I'll take it", this way I don't frustrate the seller by backing out.
That said, smle-man I so hate that you're selling the 1897 so close to me, if that piece was cheaper or if it had a bayonet lug with bayonet I don't know what I'd do. My other options is 1897 that's rusted to hell and past O.C. or a browning a-5 that I thought was sold, but i'd doubt i'll ever meet the guy for a deal with my luck.Comment

I have actually had good luck here so far, the only problem has been people out of town wanting something when I stressed in the ad local sales only. I felt those would be the most likely to flake and don't have time to deal with it.www.culinagrips.com

Feedback...If everyone is too scared to ever leave negative feedback (only when valid), what good is the whole system? That's what it's there for, so that you can know a little bit about who you are getting into business with.
I mean, it does add to the gravity of negative feedback to have this much stigma placed on the problems with leaving negative feedback, but still, it's there for that reason!

backing out is not appropriate for negative feedback.
Negative feedback should be reserved for extremes - theft, standing you up at a scheduled meet, etc. I wouldn't leave negative feedback without consulting a moderator 1st.
Neutral might be appropriate, but consider whether it's the best choice. Sometimes anger can taint your views. If you feel how you do now in 3 months, post it up.

the quantity of positive feedback tells you more about the seller/buyer than one or two negative feedback.
just my experience anyway.Comment

I disagree with you plinker, someone posting an "I'll take it" and backing out is something which deserves negative feedback. Just describe in the itrader what the negative feedback is for. People will see that the person backed out and decide whether that is a big enough factor to decide against doing business with them.Comment
