More 'I'll take it' trouble

I agree for the most part with you buyt the mods/owners seem not to. I do like the fact they state we can sell to whom we want within reason. I'm obviously not going to deny a sale to someone due to race but I can see other factors where I'd not want to sell to some.

There is no "I'll take it" rules or policies, should their be?

Just to be clear - there are no official "I'll take it" rules, just a lot of calgunners who refer to such a rule as if it existed. I think it is fair to say there is a "first to respond gets it" convention being used in general, would you agree?

Yes, I would agree. I have not denied a first "I'll take it" so far.

Following what Khram said regarding rg_1911's post, as a seller I should have the option to deny an "I'll take it," these would be people I choose not to do business with. That includes people on my ignore list, or less than 100% iTrader. I give benefit of the doubt to first time buyers/sellers on Calguns which have not yet built up an iTraider resume. I'm always willing to be their first.

Another point, while it's not a set in stone rule on Calguns, it is limited to Calguns. It's no secret I'm on multiple forums. Therefore, my accessories I have listed for sale is also on THR, SIGForum, ARFcom, 1911forum etc etc... I still do my best regarding first I'll take it, whoever it's from. And I have, and won't back out on a deal that has been made. My classifieds listing are not limited to Calguns, so a PM, or post on my ad may or may not be the actual first.

That's why I stated in my previous reply to email. It's the quickest way to contact me since it goes straight to my phone. Those get priority.

But yes, I do follow the "I'll take it" to the best of my ability. I don't want to screw anyone over... but some of the whining on Calguns fighting over first is childish.

Here's the deal. The "I'll take it " reply way of doing things is obviously flawed. That is why there are 7 pages here of people with gripes.If I'm the seller and I state what I want in my FS posting, and that is a phone call to prove you are serious then that's my business.. If you don't like what I request in my posting then don't reply. Anyone can type a few words, but to think for a minute,pick up a phone and talk, takes a serious buyer. Also, to state that I have no business posting in this forum exactly proves why I put a phone number because you are one of the ones that would not take the time to call and I am ok with that. So far in my three months on CG I have dealt with 10 happy Cal Gunners that were ok with my postings and if I come up with the right item for sale at the right price,I'll bet you will call too.

Well another thing I would like to add, is some members here are SHARKS! For example, when I had my glock up for sale, I had on the ad that I will to a partial trade for a .22 pistol and rifle. After a week or so, a guy finally pms me and says he will take it. We setup a time and place to meet. I get a pm probably 2 mins after we set everything up from another guy who said he will take it. I responded that he was a couple of mins late and it is spf to another calgunner. He pms me saying I will give you a lnib 10/22 and $400. Freaking aye! I wish I could have went back on the first deal and went along with the second deal instead. I'm a man of my word and sold it to the first guy since we set everything up already. Also the guy who offered the 10/22 was a noob and the guy I sold my glock to had feedback already. I didn't want to deal with the noob and have something go wrong.

This "noob" label kills me. Everyone here was once a "noob",even you. I'll bet you would have dealt with that "noob" if you didn't have the first deal already in place. Lets be real here,your gun was for sale for a week with no bites and if that "noob" was your only taker, you would have been all over it.

I disagree with you plinker, someone posting an "I'll take it" and backing out is something which deserves negative feedback. Just describe in the itrader what the negative feedback is for. People will see that the person backed out and decide whether that is a big enough factor to decide against doing business with them.

Agree with you Dubloon,saying "I'll take it" and backing out is not the way
things should be. You can't go to an auction,place a bid,and when told
you are the "winning bid"--back out,why should this be any different? If
you pull that during an auction you will probably be BANNED from that

I agree with that part 110%, but oh well. I have sold a few things on this site, and there have been times when someone posts "I'll take it" and I except that via PM; then not two minutes later another buyer PM's we with a better deal for my item, but I already made the first deal so I stick by my word, it's all I got.

Course, I have and will PM the first buyer back and explain the situation and see if they want to back out of the deal, most don't, and that's ok too; but it's not ok to cancel a set deal for a better deal by breaking your word IMHO

I think this thread is becoming a personal attack one. Maybe people should stop posting.

When I say "I will take it" I mean it and never backed out once. When someone says "I will take it", I expect him to honor his words as well. That is all.
