"The round that won the West" / Early Reloading Tool video

This popped up on YouTube and I'm not a subscriber yet but I found this very early reloading do-it-all tool interesting.
There are probably guys here old enough to remember when it first came out and maybe some reloaders who still use it to save money (YSR, I'm looking in your direction.)
It's not a long video but if you're in a rush you could start it at the 01:30 second mark and end it at the 05:30 second mark.

If you had been a cowboy sitting around a campFire would you have been reloading this way?

Or would you wait until daylight and it wasn't your once a week dip in the cold river bath day to avoid getting everything wet?

Or do you feel another cartridge (or cap and ball) was really the one that won the West?

You're very welcome SkyHawk , but to be clear that video isn't mine, I just noticed we were a little low on gun related threads so I posted up something that I thought was interesting. I encourage everyone to do the same if any of you folks think we're lacking in fun or informational gun threads.

This video makes it look like you can get into reloading/ hand loading for "two bits" with none of that-thar confoundit highfalutin equipment or New-York-City style book learning instructions.

That's when gun shows were really and truly gun shows.
No dream catchers or stun guns zapping loudly and I don't even remember overpriced beef jerky being on sale either.

You know I probably wouldn't have recognized that tool even if I came across one, way back then.

Does anyone here on Calguns have one of these tools? Do you ever use it?

I remember seeing the Lyman version of those (wanna say the 300 or 310) in the pre Covid times, along with the Lee had press. I still have the Lee classic kits, one for .45 Colt too.

^ Yeah, same here TAS , I normally try to stay away from the harder to find locally ammo calibers but had I known I could have reloading my own ammo while sitting on my horse during a cattle drive with other cowboys... I would have considered that option.

Lee use to sell a 12 gauge loader tool. I wish I could find one cheap.

When I got into reloading I saw that Reloading Tool, I believe made by "Lyman" at the Pomona Gun Show. That would have been 40+ years ago.

How about the Smith & Wesson Model 544 Texas Wagon Train Commemorative 1836-1986 in caliber .44-40. I wanted to get one in 1986.
