Cow Mountain BLM Shooting Range (Ukiah) - Current Status?

Has anybody gone up to the Cow Mountain shooting range in the past ~week or so?
The gov website currently states "The Shooting Range is temporarily closed for maintenance."
But they infrequently update the page and rarely return phone calls or emails.
I want to go up there next week, but not waste a 1.5hr drive each way just to find out they have the gates locked.

Email response from the Ukiak field office:

"Currently the shooting range is closed due to an on-going maintenance project that is being coordinated through our District Office.
Currently, they have not given us a firm date for the completion of the project, but their current estimated date for the final walk-through is December 26th."

Just as an FYI, range was still closed as of Wednesday 12/28, gate closed and locked at range entrance. Still able to shoot elsewhere near there.
